Q7 LED Strip

Q7 LED Strip
Hi, new Q7 owner here. Recently purchased a 2013 3.0 TFSi Prestige Q7 in Glacier White.
Had a quick question that hopefully someone can help with. Is the LED strip below the headlights merely a turn signal, or does it light up as well? I assumed that they did along with the LEDs in the headlights, but could not figure out how to turn them on.

I tried that. When I selected 'Off', the LED lights around the headlight assembly turned off. As far as I can tell, the LED strip below the headlights function only when I use the turn signal, and then they blink orange. Are they supposed to function as DRLs as well?

Hmm I'd be interested in that also. I wonder if its a custom programming option?

DRL is in the headlight assembly. Strip below the bumper is the turn signal only.
The V12 has the turn signal in the headlight and the strip below the bumper is the DRL. Perhaps that's the confusion.

Thanks for clearing that up. Still, it would have been nice if the strip was also DRL functional. Does anyone know if a mod exists to make the LED strip both a turn signal and DRL?

The first gen Q7's have a Chinese aftermarket turn signal housing that has a white LED DRL and an amber LED turn signal.
Afaik, none exist for the 2nd generation Q7's since the DRL LED strip is in the headlamp housing.
You may be able to re-wire the 1st gen turn signals into the 2nd gen bumper, but that would only be a clean mod if the housing were exactly the same- which I doubt that they are. Otherwise, open up the OEM turn signals and wire in an array of white LEDs next to the stock amber ones and reseal and reinstall.
