From what I read, Audi standardized the indirect TPMS method in 2011, and I see no mention of Canadian models being excluded. BMW also uses this method in Canada, so I assume Audi is the same.

Yes it has TPMS, but not the kind that has wireless in-wheel sensors.. Commonly called Active TPMS, ALL Modern Audi's have Passive TPMS.. dont matter if your in Canada or Germany, if its newer than 2011 there are no sensors in the wheels and winter tires simply require you to trigger the TPMS reset so it learns the new tire size.. no buying a 2nd set of sensors, no taking wheels apart when a TPMS sensor has dead batteries, no getting fault codes running aftermarket wheels with higher tire pressure, no fault codes when it gets really cold and your tires loose a few lbs of pressure due to physics, no paying extra for mount/balance to 'handle' TPMS sensors... It now uses sophisticated ABS sensors to constantly calculate the tire diameter, if it starts shrinking it throws a TPMS fault.. in almost every way its far superior to the old, antique active TPMS that no german manufacturer has used in at least ~5 years.

The picture of the in-wheel sensor that is throwing the OP off, is a rendering of a wheel.. thats not even your wheel, its a very bad illustration but it does not mean you have active TPMS.. Spec sheet does not say Active TPMS, just TPMS.. so its going to be a modern Passive TPMS, disregard the irrelevant imagery.

If you want a sure fire way to know if you have Active vs Passive, simply find the location of the TPMS reset function.. if it exists, its passive, if there is no reset function its active.. On my Golf it was a button in the Glove box, on my Q7 it was a MMI Maintenance option.

On the latest models - including the new Q5, it's a setting in the MMI - page 343 in the manual.

Default reusing winter set for 2014 on new 2018

I have a set of wheels and winter tires for my 2014 Q5, 18 x 8 wheels ET 35 with 235/60R18 Blizzak DM-V1 tires. From what I can tell the OD is very close to the 20" tires that will come on my 2018 Q5 prestige. Does anybody know if the wheels I have will fit? From what I've read in this forum I believe the bolt pattern is the same but I'm not sure about the offset.

My 2018 Q5 20 inch tires are 29.03 inches. Your 235x60 18 are 29.10... and are a thinner tire. I believe their was a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the front armature for my 20 inch....They should fit. I believe offset is about 35-38.
Can any one confirm this?
