Thinking of replacing my run flats in my q5e. Need advice
Just found out I need to replace one of my pirelli run flats with only 4000 miles on the car. I was told that it cannot be repaired and I have to buy a new tire which it's hard to find an expensive. Was a big shock to me that it can't be repaired. Thinking of replacing all four tires with non-run flats and possibly getting a donut spare in the back.
Anybody have any advice on this? Also where could I get a donut spare? Thanks

Is it cheaper to replace that one run flat versus getting a full set of non-run flat tires

First, make sure you have run flats. What model of Pirelli are on there? Sadly, if they are, it will probably cost well over $400 to get it replaced. I think (but don’t know) that tire shops won’t repair run flats. You can get a donut spare and the Audi jack tool off eBay. You’ll have to fasten them securely in the cargo area. It’s tricky. And some tires are in VERY short supply right now.

Yes, I'm going to replace my run flat. It's good to read all the paperwork you get with the car. The Pirelli brochure says that their run flats have road hazard insurance for the 1st year so if you get a puncture, they will replace it for free. I showed it to the dealer so let's see if they will honor it.
The dealer wanted $1600 for 5 years of tire and rim coverage. At first I thought that was crazy, but if you have to replace the tires in 5 years at least once at $400/tire, it doesn't sound that bad.

When you say "cannot be repaired" is it the shop won't or it's literally not repairable? Many places will refuse to plug a RFT tire, but that is complete BS. I've had many plugs put into RFTs with no issues. Keep in mind, I'm not driving the autobahn at 260 kph.
