Q5e stops charging upon unlock
For those who have the PHEV, do you find it stupid that if the vehicle is charging and locked, unlocking stops charging until you lock it again? Any way to program it to continue charging when car is unlocked?

My Q5e also charges both locked and unlocked. I think it’s smart the car stops charging when you unlock it if it’s locked. It assumes you are about to start driving.

I think stopping the charging when you unlock is a safety feature. When you unlock the doors, you can hear the lock on the charge connector also unlock. If the charging continues and you pulled the connector, you could get some lively arcing going on.

Stop when unlock
You are correct. When you unlock the doors if does stop charging. When I have it in the garage I push the button all the time. I found that the Q won't start if the charging cord is still plugged in.

I don't know whether my car or the charger at work has a bug, but after the auto stop, when I locked it again and the charging resumed, it charged at a very slow 1.5 kW. I had to completely start over for it to charge at the station's full rate (nearly 6 kW).

I could see it being a "safety" feature, even though you can't drive away while it's charging. I've found I can restart the charging after the car has been unlocked by simply pressing the charge button. I most often run into this problem if I am at a paid public charger where I've locked the car, walked away, and discovered I left something I needed in the car. Generally at paid stations I'll need to restart the whole process after I've unlocked the car and charging has stopped.
