Q5e has rough shifting when battery is depleted
I have a 2021 Q5E and have recently had an issue when the battery is depleted (Which is never is fully). When I start out from a stop, the car goes into electric mode as designed. When it switches over to ICE, I get a pretty profound jerk like a hard shift is going on. This only happens when the battery is depleted.
I just got it back from Audi and they did a "software update" that they said should make this better. The software changes how the engines switch over. Quite honestly, it's still doing it.
A few things:
1) If I run in S mode, the electric motor doesn't kick in when starting from a stop so no jerking. If I run in S, is there a significant drop in Mileage?
2) Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks.

I have not experienced any jerking when shifting from battery to ICE. ~18K miles.

id take it back to the dealer have a senior tech do a ride along and show them post update how it’s still present. Known issue my *** they need to start replacing things, I haven’t seen any other Q5E people with this issue nor did you have it until recently something has gone wrong and they need to fix it.

I had the shop foreman ride along with me. When he gave it back to me, he said that it was fixed and about 5 minutes after leaving, it happened again.
I think I'm going to try and have it returned via Lemon Law.

shouldn’t be too hard. If they’ve tried more than 3x to no avail or depending on your state laws tried at all…plus I hear Audi is usually pretty good about resolving these cases especially when someone wants to stay with an Audi product.

I have the same model/year and had the same problem - normally when the electric range is 6 miles or less. On a more full charge, the transition between electric and ICE is smooth. After four visits the dealer was able to resolve it after the tech spent some time on the phone with PHEV specialists at "corporate." I will probably not phrase this correctly, but they reset the system that learns/remembers driver style, and also reprogrammed the system that controls the interface between ICE and electric. It has been about a year and the problem has not reoccurred. I too was really frustrated until it was resolved.
