Q5e EV vs Hybrid default
#11
Sounds like the Valet is having to much fun with the car if they are burning off the EV! (Flash backs to Ferris Bueller...)
But, unfortunately no way to force it into hybrid or battery hold on startup. Always defaults to EV.

That only leaves you the battery hold option, for which you have to go into the MMI. My experience has been that it really only "holds" a few miles of EV range.

Same with my 2023 Q5e (Prm+). Starts in pure "EV" mode, but if you hit the "EV" button on the dash, it pulls up a display in the MMI that allows you to select "Hybrid" or "Battery Hold" mode. I've been trying to use "EV" about 80% of the time, and "Battery Hold" about 20%, just to make sure I run the engine every once in a while. Haven't taken a road trip (yet), just local trips so far.

I let the car do its own thing. If I program a route that exceeds the electric range, the car will run usually in hybrid mode. Less than range, it will run in EV. I find the electric range to be optimistic. Or maybe it’s my lead foot.
