Here the link- The dipstick looks to have consistant readings between the MMI reading and the physical reading on the dipstick. Nothing random or guessing here.

It's going to be a case by case basis essentially. My MMI shows the oil level completely full. (who knows how accurate, but lets assume very) I got the B9 S5 dipstick (measures 19.75" from shoulder to tip.) My oil level reads dead center between both markings on the dipstick,.

So the dipstick is technically inaccurate (full oil should read at the top line on dipstick) but at least I have it personally calibrated now... lol

That's the point. They point to this ECS stick and say "but they said". Yeah, it says B8 and B9 A4, which has four different engines, all with different T40178 values. So the single stick is sufficient for "there's oil in the engine" for any of the four, but it's only accurate for one of them, maybe. Without the factual measurements, who knows what it's accurate for. Could be none of them.

The accurate numbers for a B9 3.0T CWGD are 474mm top to full and 16mm full to min. So regardless of where the marks actually are on that 500mm stick, you know where the correct full and min marks would be for your engine.

Anyone know if the dealer shop tool is available? Or how to verify that one exists?

Just got the dipstick today. 2022 Q5 S Line with 260 hp 2 litre. MMI says chock full of oil, dipstick says overfull. Nonetheless it will do what I need it to do.

Yes, but now he can put his own etching on it and he now has an accurate dipstick.

Actually I can’t because the full level is on the wire rope.

Already provided the only necessary info. For DPVA, full is 490mm from top, then 18mm from full to min. Measure it, mark it, done.

Dipstick is 51cm from top to full.

It is extremely difficult to find the fresh oil on the wire rope, especially with 69yo eyes.

Any ideas on how to mark the full line on wire rope that will survive the petro-chemical soup?
