I got $3500 off which is a little over 5%. I didn’t push very hard for this either because they had the car I wanted.
Edit: Trade value was fair.

I got 8%, but was talking to two dealers so there was some competition. Got a low end trade-in value, though. Hard when you 'order' one to have any leverage on the trade-in at delivery....

Argh, I wish I understood pricing, and whether/when it changes. I don't know whether they would have been glad to have had me back out if they had NOT honored the departed-guy's 6.5%, with a nice car that they could quickly sell to someone else.
I sent about 10 emails from Colo north & south & west to Utah & NV, and asked for their most-off-MSRP offer, with reply by email. Getting at least one great offer makes it easier to see who else will beat or match.
Another perspective is that although we really want that 6% or whatever someone else got, pretty soon you may pony up 3% or more for the wrap or tint or ... of your dreams -- so maybe settling for a good deal is better than giving too much up of your life to get the "best" deal.
I worked the loan length and APRs the same way, and probably saved much more that way than the msrp discount (ended up with DCU from Mass).
Best of luck!
