Default Pre-sense limited when in off-road mode

Whenever I switch to off-road mode. I get the warning message “Audi presense currently limited. Please see ownners manual”.

However, if I turn off the car and restart it. The drive mode is still in off-road (of course), but the pre sense warning message is gone. At this time If I change the drive select to other modes and then change it back to off-road, the warning msg will show up again.

Any idea?

I change mode to off-road daily (need to go through really bumpy, reconstructed road driving to work) and never had such problem.

i get the exact same fault when engaging off road mode. I’ve tried all the suggested resets, but still having same issue. I called dealership and they said it’s nothing to worry about as long as it’s not coming up in any other drive select modes. Not too reassuring, hopefully it’s due to excess dirt or salt build up on sensors. Please share if anyone has found a way to solve this problem. Thanks

Interesting. I have not tried the off-road mode. Normally I drive in dynamic mode.

Off road shuts off Pre Sense, it's normal.

It makes sense it should be shut off....how could you navigate through brush or even through deep ruts with the car braking automatically all the time. Not saying the typical owner would do that but if it's gonna be off road capable then it's gotta be able to power through and over obstacles. Also keep in mind the off road mode itself has a very low speed limit to it so if you exceed that pre-sense would come back on.

Audi pre sense systems work by using cameras and radar sensors to keep track of dangers around the vehicle within the Best Off Road Driving Trails in Kansas. They can detect pedestrians, cars, and other potential dangers, and if a collision is imminent, they take the following steps: The front seat belts automatically tension to help reduce the chance of injury.

I say Kansas off road driving is something I won’t be doing soon. What’s the point here?
