The 7 speed in Q5 and 8 speed transmission in SQ5 help a lot with higher MPG's we are getting on longer distance highway trips.

It would be nice if Audi would choose to display which gear the car is in at all times. I know it can be turned on with the OBD-11 but it really should be shown routinely. No reason not to that I can think of.

I feel tempted to chime in with the gas mileage I get with my 55 PHEV. Considering that it has a very similar horsepower figure to the SQ5, that would be less of an apples-to-oranges comparison than it seems at first sight.

The tank I’m on now is averaging 145 mpg. The last time I had 0 range on battery, I averaged 31 mpg in hybrid mode. Mostly highway.

I don't quite get that, thanks to a 32-mile commute each way and the fact that I have a kayak or two on the car quite often. But a long-term average (including a few long-distance trips) of well over 38 mpg and 5 mi/kWh is better than expected. On my commute (which is longer than the fully electric range), I get between mid-50 and mid-80 mpg, averaging around 60. And thanks to solar, I charge for free on both ends of the commute. Quite happy with that!

Agreed. I've turned it on but it's standard on my parent's VW Golf

We are retired so very few long trips. In 3,5 months I’ve put gas in once. I’ve gone over 400 miles on this tank. It’s still 80% full. However, my wife has a trip planned that will well exceed the battery range. I do have to pay for electricity.

A month or so ago, I replaced my original Michelin summer tires with Michelin CrossClimate 2. I suspect my mileage will decrease some since the tires are new and have a lot more tread, and the tread is more aggressive, but I've not had to fill up since and haven't taken the car on a trip yet.
