How to program tow hitch module harness?
My mechanic is installing the Audi OEM hitch and harness from Audipartsonline. They said you have to have the car programmed after installation?? Can OBDEleven do this? Only the dealer?

Car needs to be programmed. VCDS can program the car to recognize the added towing module. Otherwise it's like it does not exist. Don't know if OBDEleven can do it.

Interesting I guess there is some module, where does it plug in to? What change is applied?

I remember a handful of settings that had to be changed to make everything work correctly with no codes thrown.
Some of the changes are to the stability program, ABS, power train, and a dedicated turn signal indicator for the trailer lights. It also tells you if a trailer bulb is out.
There are now after market trailer lights that work inductivly without cutting wires that is a nice option but you get none of the above features.

On the previous model the module plugs in behind a panel in the trunk. There have been a few good DIY's to do the entire job.
