Garage Wall Guards-(Front Wall) to protect my Q5
I have a very small garage (house was built in 1929) that requires that I park the car as close to the wall as possible in order to close the garage door. I am picking up my new Q5 at the end of the month and wanted to find some type of garage wall guard to put on the front wall. Currently I have two boogie boards against the wall and that does the trick, but they usually fall down after moving away from the wall. I would like something more permanent or that stays attached to the wall. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I see lots of people use the ball and string technique. park the car where you like it and hang a ball over the windshield (drivers side) and test it a couple times until comfortable with the location. then you just pull in until you touch the ball and good to go.

We have the same issue with my wife's car, and used a piece of wood on the garage floor for awhile, but I finally ordered this to stick down permanently:
It has worked great and stayed in place for about two years.
The other option as texasDFWS4 said, is to use a tennis ball on a string. This is what my dad has always done, but doesn't provide any barrier from hitting the wall. You can drive over the stop I linked, but it's much harder to do.

I literally have to touch the wall in order for the garage door to close. I am trying to find some type of soft landing (cushion) for the front of the car when it rests against the wall.

More permanent is to bump out part of the rear wall of the garage to provide more room for the "nose" of the car; I saw a lot of garages in the Midwest that had the bottom half of the rear garage wall bumped out a foot or two just for this reason.

We bought a laser from Chamberlin I believe. It activates with the opener, installs pretty easily and puts a small laser dot on the dashboard. We just line that up each time and it keeps us from having to put something else in the garage.
Heres a link:

Get a full length parking curb from Amazon. Once your tires hit it you won’t be going any further unless you try. You can even get a double so your tires use them like a cradle and you won’t go anywhere

I've used the laser in the past (didn't really like it). When we built our new house, the garage was almost too short for our truck (same issue as the OP). I bought some pressure treated 4x lumber, and created a "box" on the floor, with it tight to the wall. When you would drive in, you can roll up to the 4x4 on the floor, and you it's a perfect stop.
Just adjust the "arms" of the box so that the piece you need to drive up to is positioned correctly for spacing that works. Nice thing about it against the wall, if you hit it a bit harder than you should, you don't have to worry about it moving, since it has nowhere to go.
