Default CN: HELLO ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS , JUST SHOW THE GATEWAY WATER PROOF TREATMENT BY AUDI

HELLO ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS , JUST SHOW THE GATEWAY WATER PROOF TREATMENT BY AUDI RELATED TO THE RECENT Q5 RECALL.

SOME INFORMATION ONLINE SHOWS THAT ALL Q5 SUVS FROM MID NOV WILL NOT BE RECALLED BECAUSE THEIR GATEWAY HAVE BEEN TREATED SINCE NOV 12TH.
.A NEW Q5 OWNER IN CHINA TOOK HIS CAR LAST WEEK (PRODUCT DATE EC 6TH ) AND UNVEILED ITS GATEWAY AND PRESENT THIS PHOTO.
YES, YES, IT IS A TRANSPARENT PLASTIC BAG WRAPPING AROUND THE GATEWAY. LOOKS NOT FINE AND PROFESSIONAL ENOUGH.

How do the wiring harnesses get in/out of the bag with a waterproof seal? Frankly, I think I like better what some members on here have done themselves. I guess I should reserve final judgement foe when I see it on my Q5e, but I do wonder about it.

This has to be a joke. Either that or the same idiots who were responsible for the original design were in charge of the "fix".

I literally cannot believe it, I was excited about the recall as I wouldn't have to do the relocation hack posted on other thread here but now if it's just a bag....... condensation might kill it...... oh Audi.....

I would file the OP under "it's the internet...it must be true"
Let's wait for the official fix to come out before getting worked up about it. I'm just glad that a fix is coming.

Nailed it. It’s like April Fools Day in December.

Funny. I remounted mine months ago. 21 SQ5. I mounted it onto the metal plate above the module so it was off the floor. I also put it into a quart sized ziploc bag to keep it dry. Water from above or below will not wet it. It's not necessary to waterproof the harness going into the module. Water doesn't move sideways.

I have not looked at mine, but photos I’ve seen on here show the module sitting in a depression in the floorboard. Assuming that depression could completely fill with spilled liquid, is it still waterproof if Audi just puts a plastic bag on it and does not remount it higher? It seems like cornering and braking forces could slosh liquid around to find its way into holes in a bag? Again, assuming no remounting like you did.
