It would be pretty minor impact. Biggest difference is it idles higher (so you would burn a bit more at a stop light), and if you don't use manual mode, then I think it only gets to 7th gear not 8th. Throttle is a bit more sensitive which makes mileage better if you have good throttle control, but if you are like my buddy who is always fluttering the pedal, then it's a lot worse (that's why in regular D, it feels pretty dead at light throttle presses).

To close the issue, my dealer finally got the right parts in and replaced the missing ones under warranty since it was their conclusion, they were not installed correctly at the factory. They also checked the drivers side to be sure that side was OK.

Default Real exhaust tips dilemma

I am starting to regret getting real exhaust tips installed on new 2023 SQ5. Purchased black tips at dealer to be installed on new mythos sq5. Paid for the install since black tips were not available as port installed option. About two weeks after purchase I started to notice exhaust on one side was higher than the other. I brought back to dealership to adjust. They were very happy to fix. The tech had me come take a look before leaving with car. A few days later my OCD got the better of me and upon a thorough inspection I noticed they are still not perfect. There’s definitely a slight variation left to right as well as vertically between the two sides. I made another appointment to adjust again. While I’m sure it will end up being fine w/o any extra cost, I can’t help think that I wouldn’t have this problem if I just kept it stock.

Be careful what you wish for.

Or so they say.

Well, us SQ5 Sportback owners have no "Hot Tips" option, so the stock fake tips remain on my '21 SQ5 SB.

I love my hot tips. I put them in myself. It was the first mod I did after a week of ownership. It was very easy. I couldn’t stand fake tips. While they didn’t look terrible, the real ones are soo much better. Also I can confirm there is a sound difference. Soot buildup is barely anything.

yeah that’s why I went with the black tips instead of chrome. Can’t see the soot.

I don't mind fake tips either, but I would like to tone down the chrome ones with something less showy on my '23 SQ5. Has any one had any experience with replacing the chrome tips with black ones, wrapping them with vinyl, or some other fix?

Vinyl wrap will probably melt from the exhaust heat, best to paint the tips with high temp engine spray paint. Or the expensive fix would be getting black tips welded on.

Spray them with plasti-dip. Peel it off if you don’t like it and experiment with different colors. Check out the DYC channel on you tube.
