I live in Central NY where we have lot of salt in winters, did anyone have any experience with Ziebart undercoating for rust protection?
They coat some black sealant. Is this worth it or is there any other option?

Ziebart was introduced back in the '70s when cars were still made with raw sheet metal and commonly rusted out in 3 to 5 years. It was a good idea at the time but fortunately, we've come a long way since then!

Even my dealer is telling me that rust protection is not necessary for my Q5. Coming from people that still offers this product, it is probably true, otherwise they would have pushed me to take it!

And here in Quebec, the roads are a mixture of salt, sand, and stones, for 4 to 5 months every year and I do not have a single trace of rust anywhere on my 2010 Q5.

Frankly, I'm surprised Ziebart is still in business. My folks used to do Ziebart rust-proofing in the 1970s. No need anymore. Save your money for underside car washing.

A vehicle with a 12 year manufacturer warranty against rust perforation does not need Ziebart.

Use your money for a nice option or AudiCare.
