Default Why Q5 over BMW X3

I was all set to order a new X3 when the dealer I was working with upset me to the point I thought we should take another look at the Q5. I am so glad we did because I am strongly leaning towards the Q5 now. I have never owned a BMW or an Audi and would love to hear thoughts on either and what made you choose this car over others.

Default it's what's on the inside that counts

when i sat in the driver's seat of the Q5, it just felt perfect. nobody designs an interior as nicely appointed as audi. and since that is where i spend the majority of my time when using my vehicle...

I find Audi's styling to be superior to BMW pretty much across the line up.

However, Audi's "packaging" in the NA market is maddening.

For example, why cant we get s-line with the 2.0T?

Also, dropping Quartz grey for 2012 was a horrible idea. I thought Quartz was Audi's marketing color of choice!?!?

So...two votes for style and comfort.

Anybody want to chime in on functionality? HPH

X3 design just not appealing. Q5 looks a lot meaner (3.2 S line) and body lines are nicer.

As for your X3 dealer, what did he do to upset you?

MMI > iDrive

also in regard to styling, BMW has basically had the same interior design for years and it shows. it looks rather plain for a car in this price range in 2011

BMW certainly has some features that i would like to see in an Audi (HUD, etc...) so you wont go wrong with either, but i think a comparably equipped X3 will cost you more than a Q5

I completely agree with this...if you go into the BMW USA configurator, once you ADD true leather seats, wood trim, and satin finish roof rails to the X3, you are already over the base Q5 2.0T P+ MSRP price and do not get Xenon headlights, heated front seats, etc. You have to buy all of these packages, just to get some of the standard features from Audi...yes, for the additional cost of the packages, you get additional items, but just to add some of these basic amenities to the car, you are stuck with a significanlyt increased price. Just my opinion.

I think the Q5 is more superior as a chill cruiser comfortable car. The X3 seems more sporty. The X3 is very expensive and isn't as nice.

I test drive both car and I liked both. Each car has his own plusses and minuses.
X3 seating on 6 yr old E90 platform and interior is look like any other BMW - nothing to write home about. Exterior - I steal think Q5 is looking more fresh even after 3 yrs of production and BMW just release new car.

For Q5 I will choose 3.2 engine over 2.0T even if the car will be used 80% to and from work. Premim Plus + Navigation has evrething what we need. I'm not desided between 18" or 19" weels.
3.2 FSI® Premium Plus with six-speed Tiptronic® transmission and quattro®
Base MSRP $ 42,500
Options price $ 3,825
Destination charge $ 875
Price as Built* $ 47,200

For X3 I will choose X35i, even if I know that I can be hit by HPFP issue.
And with all pakagaes added
Base MSRP $41,050
Premium Package $3,450

Technology Package $3,200
Destination charge $ 875
Price as Built* $ 49,125

As you can see I didn't add S pakage for Audi and Sport pakage for BMW.
In addition for BMW I really like Convenience Package -another $1,125
