Default When to add AdBlue?

Pls help determine when to add AdBlue to our 2015 Q5 TDI. I cannot find AdBlue levels, like I can with oil.

I would prefer to do it before the car tells me that it is low. I also do knot want to risk damage from overfilling.

Thanks in advanced

I fill mine every oil change (5,000 miles for me) ... just did my last oil change last week and put in about 3.5 gallons. I don't think it's possible to overfill the system as it will simply stop taking more at some point. When we first got our 2015 (purchased new), I picked up a four-pack of Audi/VW branded AdBlue and I just refill those with generic DEF I pick up at Walmart for less than $10 per 2.5 gallon container. I've never had an AdBlue low light show up in 7 years of ownership.

TDI has a 7 gallon tank on it for the adblue, so possible to go close to 10000 miles between fillups.
Doing it at least every 5000 milrs is a good idea.
I add about 1/2 a gallon about every 1000 miles, which is a 5 minute job.

Might call your local dealership. Mine does a check and fill for no change. Dealership says that I can go 10K; basically between oil changes before fluid needs to be added.

I thank all of you for taking the time to share your good insights & suggestions. It’s good to know that I cannot overfill the AdBlue tank and that it has a 7 gal capacity.

I intend to follow up starting with dealer

wishing all a safe holiday season

My 2015 has a reminder alarm that goes off when it’s time.
