My wife & I just pulled in after 330Km of the Irish Loop, which is the southern Avalon Peninsula (Newfoundland, Canada). It's a 2-lane hwy with a maximum speed limit of 80-90kph, winding along the southern shore in the fog and drizzle, but we were well lit, front & back, and I am impressed with the automatic wipers!

The short term computer calculated our mileage to be 8.8L/100Km (26.8MPG), so we are quite pleased. It is our 2nd fillup, so I was hoping to report a calculated average of 2 days of short trips to town along with today's trip, but my iP app somehow did not remember my 1st fillup. Still, even with reported onboard inaccuracies, anyone should be pleased with 23-25mpg from a supercharged 6cyl ... we are!

EDIT: I was able to find my 1st fillup data, so can update our overall actual fuel mileage ... 10.4L/100Km or 22.5mpg.

Curious of the 3.0'ers if you've left the auto/stop active?

I tried it for a week and wasn't crazy about it. I read some where on here were someone said they couldn't tell a difference. I think that's a stretch, I get a shudder, slight knock and the the air cycles down - then a quick start. Yes some can live with it, but to me it's slightly annoying.

We live in rural Colorado. Up here I turn Start/Stop off. When stopping at a stop-sign, it is annoying to have the engine stop and start again immediately, and our lights are short. But when in Denver I leave it on. You can wait for up to 90 seconds or more at a large intesections with left-turn arrows. That has to save gas, but I don't have enough experience with the car to prove it. My wife doesn't like it at all, and she turns it off whenever she is behind the wheel.

Weather has warmed up and the Q is broken in now. Pleased to see that my trip to/from work have generally been 7.9 L/100km (29.8 US MPG) lately. For comparison, my 2011 A4 2.0T 6MT would usually get around 6.5 L/100 km (36.1 MPG), same trip, same speed. Not that much more, incredible. 53km to work, all highway. 120km/hr for about half of it, 100km/h for the other half.

Fuelly shows 22 3.0L V6 cars getting 18-19 mpg. http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/q5/gas%20v6

Are you using imperial gallons for your calculations?

Your stable closely resembles mine. BTW, I don't know how you are getting that type of mileage. Mine has 14k km on it and the best I can get on the highway (120-125 kmh) is about 9L/100.

I was getting mileage like you say until the weather warmed up. I live very close to the highway, and I usually only make a few stops the entire drive. Very flat as well.

You're right, our stable is pretty similar! Wish I had a 996 though...someday! I hate to admit it, but the Honda is really comfy to cruise in. The flip down DVD keeps the kids at bay...lol!

That's about what I'm getting ... maybe a bit less, but it's still cold here in Newfoundland, so I'm losing mileage on short trips.

That said, I imagine the 2.0T is worth ~4mpg better, but it is also so easy not to use the gas pedal with the 3.0T--it hardly ever downshifts on gradients that our Honda will go from 4th to 3rd on.
