What are your gripes about the Q5?

Have to agree with a couple of the 1st posters (from back in 09), #1 gripe is no sport seat option in the US. Only possible explanation I can think of is with the US market being a small part of Audi's overall sales (roughly 10% I believe), it's not profitable for them to offer it.
With the vehicle being so quick and sporty, the seats are a joke. They're plenty comfortable, but with even the slighest bit of spirited cornering, I'm always getting tossed around side to side.

Love the car but....
- Steering pulsing at very low speeds or on very smooth surfaces (epoxy coated concrete like in under ground car parks)
- Rattle in sun roof
- Lethargic launch with S-Tronic transmission (non North American cars only)
- The contempt with which the Audi service centres treat you

Having to step on brake to turn the key. This is such a pain when it's freezing out, I'm trying to get the baby in the car seat, and my wife can't start the car from the passenger seat.
Is there a way to turn off this 'feature' via Vag-Com?

No. That's your governments attempt to protect you from yourself. It's a federal law resulting from alleged (and later proved to be false) unintended acceleration of Audi Quatttro 5000 cars in the 1980s. Aren't you glad they didn't pass a bunch of worthless laws based upon the recent Toyota fiasco that also proved to be operator error? We're lucky. They were seriously considering mandating throttle to be cut whenever the brake was applied to "save us" from our own "stoopidity". That would spell the end of toe-heel techniques.

Gripes:
- No heated rear seats
- No heated steering wheel
- No option to close rear hatch remotely
- No rear entertainment option
- Too soft aluminum trim (S-line) directly underneath the key fob
- Power-robbing carbon buildup problem inherent to the Audi FSI engine design
- Brake pads produce far too much dust

All kidding aside, like elevens said the govt is trying to protect you from you. You have to step on the brake for even the keyless option. You could get a remote starter installed but I dunno how that affects your warranty in the US.
