Was just clearing out some items and originally thought this was related to the roof bars but now I'm not sure what it is!

It is a screen to hook behind the rear seats floor to ceiling. The roof you will see has hook holes there and it ties down to the forward most loops in the boot.
Also if you drop the rear seats you can have it behind the front seats, again roof has hook holes, and this time tie down to the back of the rear seats using the loop that the use to lock upright. This is more useful in this position as it stops whatever large object you have in the back from taking your head off!!

Oh wow $600 lol! Does this come standard with every Q5 like the roof rails or did I somehow get it randomly/with an option?

That is a highly sought after accessory. I believe it only came standard with the 2009 and maybe 2010 model years IIRC. Folks that want to keep their pets contained in the rear love it.

Came standard with both my 2009 and 2012 Q5's. I have never used them once although I would not sell it, might come in useful one day. Plus, might get hit on trade in if it is not with the car.

I think this is the only photo I have of it actually in use. I may have used it a couple other times, but certainly not often. I wanted to use it and fill the entire rear with soccer ***** and run it down the drag-strip that way (alla soccer-parent-mobile), but don't own that many ***** and figured I might not be allowed anyway. It'd be fun to attempt though (note my best 1/4 mile was 11.7@122 which is pretty quick/fast and sometimes embarrassing for "muscle cars", so I thought the above might, umm, "help" )

Interesting - I did not receive this net with my TDI premium plus that I received yesterday. Does this come with a particular package or the presitge trim line? My dealer did throw in a cargo storage organizer (with the name of the dealership all over it) and a Q5 keychain.
