Water pump replacement interval
When are you guys replacing your water pump and thermostat as a preventative maintenance?
In my previous Japanese vehicles, it was usually around 90k miles, which was around the same time I changed out the timing belt too.
The only other place that mentioned a recommended interval, was on Ecstuning website, which was 60k miles. That sounds like a very short interval to me. But I rather not be like my friend and have his BMW dead on side of road due to water pump failure.
Vehicle is 2013 Q5 2.0T

well a quick google search turned up some older posts talking about premature water pump failures on the early 3.0Ts. Recall was issued and Audi has since changed pumps to an aluminum one from plastic, doesn't seem to be a problem on the 3.0T in the Q5

My 2010 Q5 3.2L had that water pump recall.

I saw it in my garage on my previous Q5 -2013 3.0T. Water pump went out (started leaking) at 22.5k mi. Replaced under warranty. No recall that I know of. The service tech said I was the first 3.0T he had seen with this issue. Guess I just got lucky.
