Default Warning Triangle Compartment

There's a compartment in the trunk lid for a warning triangle. My guess is that the compartment would actually have a triangle in it at delivery in Europe.

I foolishly bought an Audi triangle (part no 000-093-056-A) from Audi Parts Super Store for $19.95 only to find it doesn't fit in the compartment. They will take the part back and credit me but they are telling me that the Audi part that fits in there costs $80. That feels like an awful lot of money for a few bits of plastic.

Does anyone have a more reasonable source in the USA for a triangle that will fit?

Steve

Default Not sure on part # just now, but yes...

the Euro Delivery Q5's do come with the warning triangle, plus a reflective vest. Required Euro road stuff. I checked on delivery in Ingolstadt to be sure it was on board. I was assured it comes through the port w/ the car when shipped, and posted to confirm w/ ED delivery purchasers before me that they indeed did still find it in the vehicle upon arrival in the USA.

Car should finally get here any day now. It got to the San Diego port late last week.

I can post part # if desired when I get it off the vehicle; you can try searching on the one you have too. The on line dealers like AudiUSAParts will sell at some discount off list that you find at most walk up counters.

Customs and compliance inspections don't remove the triangle from the car prior to delivery ?

BMW Euro Delivery always tells you to remove all possessions, triangle, vest, and alcohol breathalyzer (France) from the car before dropping it off.

Default I'll know in a few days, but the prior answer was no they don't

Prior ED customers have said it stays. I know Audi says take everything out, but in the case of these two items, they were in the car on delivery in Europe, just like the clunky roof rack was. They specifically say leave roof rack in and don't mention the others. In practice, I don't think the Audi Euro people want to mess with them because they are German road required. The freight forwarding people just casually look for a clean vehicle and any obvious body damage. Then on the way in, there is no practical way a customs person will know the ins and outs of all the vehicle equipment, especially something like a safety triangle that has a "place" and that has been standard on Audi's in the past, including my other current two.

Forgot to add in prior post that the Euro delivery ones also come with the otherwise optional first aid kit. Also required there, and again prior ED purchasers reported it made the boat ride safe and sound.

I can't add much, but my BMW was similar to Euro Delivery (I actually bought it from a dealer in Germany), and it made it through the US ports and customs with the warning triangle and medical kit intact.

Really wish the Audis would come with the warning triangles in the US. That's insane not to have it. I guess I'll pay the $80.

Well worth it if you break down, as it could save your life.

check the part number at www.audigenuineparts.com they tend to have pretty low prices on OEM stuff.

Great, many thanks Dennis. Can you confirm that it fits in our tailgate compartment? Steve

Audi USA's own audicollectionusa.com web site lists 000093056A as the correct Emergency Warning Triangle for all models. Are you sure the one you received won't fit?
