I believe in 2012, part of the Driver Assistance package, only available on Prestige trim levels.
The Adaptive Cruise also includes Autonomous Automatic Braking/Collision avoidance.

"Audi adaptive cruise control with braking guard", PR-8T4, was a standalone option for the Prestige trim on US B8.0 products in the following years, based on the order guides and brochures:
A4, 2010, 2011, 2012
A5, 2010, 2011, 2012
Q5, 2011, 2012
For B8.0, the Q5 2.0T did not come in Prestige, only the Q5 3.2.

For B8.5, starting 2013, "Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go" was a component of the Driver Assist Package, an option only for the Prestige trim. And also like B8.0, Q5 Prestige trim was only with the V6 (3.0T, 3.0 TDI) and not with the 2.0T (pure or hybrid).

VIN for B8 Q5 Prestige will start WA1W.... And WA1V... for SQ5 Prestige.

Where are the sensors for this system? Are the cars with adaptive cruise visibly different? We had a 2017 CX5 with adaptive cruise and the Mazda logo in the grill housed the sensors and was a flat plastic panel that shielded them so it was obvious which cars had it.
Basically I'm looking for a tell tale sign for the Prestige package cars that do NOT have adaptive cruise so I know not to bother looking at those (wife insists she wants adaptive cruise).

Thanks,
Julian

IIRC, the adaptive cruise control sensors are visible on the front grill area.

For Audi B8 Q5 (2009-2017 in the US), same as the other B8 products (A4, A5), you'll see the radar dome in the lower right "grill".

Also note, the ACC calibration must be performed if the rear toe is adjusted during a wheel alignment (I assume the real concern being the thrust angle).

What is the consequence if not done? Just had mine done on 2017 and do not notice any problems with ACC ? Can I assume it was done? Or how would I know it needs to be done? AUDI DEALER slow to get appointments here, ie, one month to recheck alignment!

cheers

Well, Audi has to CYA, being a corporation. But I can see the general concern. If you run the basic setting to calibrate the radar system based on how the car points as it drives "straight" down the road, and then change the rear toe thus changing possibly the thrust angle, ie the angle the car points as it drives "straight" down the road, the system should be recalibrated to make sure it's still looking "straight ahead" and not "the next lane over", depending on how far down the road it's evaluating. But an alignment done doesn't mean they needed to change the rear toe per se, or resulted in any net thrust angle change. Again, there's "good enough to get by usually", and then there's safeguarding against litigation.
