Default SQ5: New winter setup pic

Installed the new winter setup. Went with Hartmann peeler reps (20x9" ET25) and Pirelli Scorpion Winters (255/45R-20). The fitment is great. Nice and flush, looks OEM, and still decently sporting. Achtuning made the process easy: drop shipped tires from Tire Rack direct to them, then they mounted, balanced, and added Audi centercaps.

I didn't have a lot of choice in tires because I ordered late in season. Can't speak to snow performance yet, but just road-tripped them for the first time this weekend and very positive dry-road impressions. Quiet at high speed, minimal handling sacrifice, and dramatic improvement in ride quality (vs. stock 21s which are pretty much granite below 40). Fingers crossed that they can handle the deep stuff.

Scorpion Winter are great tires. A lot of us have them and I don't think I've heard any complaints. I'm just still kicking myself for going with 19s. Grrr! It will be another year or two before I wear out these tires. Your setup looks great.

Why do you regret the 19s? Just the look?

I was also torn between 19s and 20s. Left brain knows 19s are cheaper in the long run, and better in deep snow. Right brain just liked how the 20s look.

Yes mostly the look and I don't think the 19s offer any benefit over the 20s other than saving a few dollars.

Quick question... Picking up my 15 Q5 TDI, S-line tomorrow .... Almost a 3 month wait. I wanted a set of winter wheels/tires and found a good deal on Craigslist. 235/65/17 Dunlop Winter Sport 3D, rims are Audi 7J x 17, ET 37. Paid $1,200, 500 miles on the tires. Will these look OK on my Q5, or will I only be able to drive after dark...

Only way to find out is to put them on your car. Looks is all in the eye of the beholder, if it looks good to you, then it is ok. Don't worry what others think of your choice, unless you are trying to win a popularity contest.
