Default SQ5 break in period

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the break in period for an SQ5? I pick mine up this weekend and I want to make sure I do it right.

Thanks

Dave

First 600 miles - no full throttle, revs below 4,000
600 - 1,000 - gradually increase revs to redline
1,000+ - have fun

Dealer would say there is no need for break in but I just take it easy on the gas pedal for the first 2k and just drove with comfort mode.

Audi engineers have a different opinion than the dealers

I just completed my breakin - followed what an Audi mechanic turned me onto
Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power
I don't know if it really does prevent the oil burning issues, but 2 Audis so far and things going well. My previous A4 was a disaster from the oil burning perspective.
Basically I warm the engine slowly. Then accelerate to 30/40/50 mph and take my foot off the accelerator letting the engine pull a vacuum. I also varied the rpms constantly including higher revs only to back off the pedal so that the engine pulls a vacuum. Both cars doing well without oil burning. This method has a lot of controversy to it so read up before doing.

Thanks for the great advice. I will take care of the new engine and do it correctly.

I'm in the no break-in period camp. Drive it how you want, as long as it's warmed up first. These engines are not that remarkable or complex.

Same as Transfer. You should pull out of the dealer's lot then you can break it in.

It tough to run it hard when the Audi manual says differently. I'm not saying it's not the better way, I just have a hard time flooring such an expensive vehicle (to me anyhow) when Audi says not to. Anybody else have luck with the run-it-hard approach? It makes sense from that article.

When I buy a new car I crack open the manual, see what the manufacturer has to say, and try to follow it as close as possible within reason. Break in procedure isn't as critical as it was back in the day but I like to see what the people who make and warrantee the engine have to say.
