I bought a 2012 A7 3.0T supercharged this year, and have to admin this is smoothest car I've ever driven. So now I start to look at Audi Q5.

The 1st gen (08~17) has 3.2L and 3.0TFSI engine. Now I know the 3.0T engine is super, but 3.2L cars are a lot cheaper. I know cheaper is no good but want to know how different they can be? I haven't test driven any of them. Another thing is I DIY cars myself and want to have them as simple as possible, so normally don't want any turbo-charged cars. Before this, I was looking at 2011~2012 X3 with an BMW I6 engine.

I want to know the difference in terms of driving experience and maintenance/fixing.

The 3.2 is rather anemic. The 3.0T is a considerably better performer with aftermarket options to boot. Plus the early 3.2s suffer from timing chain guide issues.

Are you looking for cheap transport or enjoyable transport, so really only something you can make the call regarding.

The 3.0T is the better performer by far. It’s fairly bullet proof and well proven post the water pump issues. Just my 2 cents…

Been driving 4 cylinder turbos for 20 years. Got a 3.0t a6 last year and would never go back. Just picked up 2015 sq5 last week. Love it. The 3.2 is a tired old motor.
