Power into the temperature control should be around 12 volts.
Power out of the temperature control (on High) should be 12 volts.
Power into the seat to the heater should be 12 volts.
Ohms to ground should be zero on the ground wire.
It's a simple 12 volt DC circuit. If you're not seeing full power, there's a resistance in the line.

I don't get it. Do you guys want to be able to keep your chicken parm heros hot on those seats? I have to turn my seat heater either down or off after 10 minutes or else I'd end up with fromunda cheese! (Please don't ask what that is) Maybe I'm just not in tune to the finer things in life like toasted buns.

From what I was told the seat heaters had been turned down on Audi products ( not VW) sometime around June of 2009. People that have had older Audi products can see the difference. VW's still get hot.

It may be possible that they turned them down to prolong their lifes. The heater itself is a costly part, add the labor of unskinning and reskinning the seat and the hours and cost adds up. The passenger seat heater burned out in our Acura and they wanted over $800 to replace it.
