Default Scuba Blue

To me, this color looks great in pictures, but I have never seen it in person. Can anyone comment on the looks of it? Is it purplish? I had an A4 loaner that was blue but looked purple in certain light. I was not a fan of that.

IMO, it is a dark metallic blue. It can have a small hint of purple to it. Search the forum, there was a thread about this a month ago. I posted some pics of it in the sunlight, far away and really close up. They are pretty true to color.

Thanks, that was helpful. I ordered Scuba Blue, sight unseen, but I think I will be happy with it. Really, I would probably be happy with the Q in any color because of how awesome it is. It's going to be a long wait until January.

There was a thread on the allroad side where someone took some pretty good pictures of their Scuba Blue allroad (Picasa link in the first post): https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2833713 .

Haven't seen it in person and haven't seen any pictures of the Q5 in it, but I think it'll look really good (and I think it's what I'm leaning toward -- though I have until next model year to change my mind). Definitely get some good pics of it when yours comes in so we can see a Q5 in it instead of all these cars. (I'm confident it'll wear it really well. I know it's not as light as some people would want, but I think the light highlights on what seems like a medium blue will go nicely.)

Thanks, that's perfect. The allroad is the exact combo I ordered, so it really gives me a good idea of what it looks like. I also like that there are various lighting. Very cool.

Yeah, lighting's critical with the pearl/metallic cars since they can completely change personalities based on the lighting conditions. I think the base blue is somewhat conservative (I've seen some people say it's "an A6 color" and I could see that for the base), and then when the sun's out it has a little more fun. Who says a car can't be serious and fun?

From searching for images online of Mugello, it looks like the base blue might be similar, with Scuba having a lighter "highlight" color than Mugello. Might even be more of a difference of metallic (Scuba) vs. pearl (Mugello) effects.
