Default This "math" exercise is not correct for tire size/width choices

This isn't how tire sizing works. The "235" is the nominal tread width, not the width where it mounts to the wheel. There is a relationship to the two that is more general (narrower wheels for narrower tires), but nothing this rigid.

Pulling a spec for either of the two 235/55-19 winter tires now on TireRack, it says you can use a 6.5 to 8.5" wheel, and they took their measurements with a 7 1/2" wheel. Click on "specs" under either tire choice and you get the measurements. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...55&diameter=19

I also know from running 235's on an old T&C minivan and on a Sienna, both of those used 7" OE rims max (some were narrower). The tires looked a little "cop car"ish with somewhat bulged sidewalls common to a narrower rim to broader tire set up like this, but it fits the permitted tire specs.

Default See reply above; more here

You are confusing wheel widths with tire tread widths.

But meanwhile, of course you can just run standard 19x8 Q5 OE wheels. Those are sold all day long on eBay in sets at reasonable prices, and for that matter I can find them often on my local Craigslist too, sometimes cheaper. With an 8" wheel it will have less of a "cop car" sidewall bulged out look than on a 7" wheel.

Has anyone bit the bullet and ordered any winter wheels/tires for their SQ5 yet?

I was hoping to put 18's on but most of the wheel sites I use don't really offer them in a fitment for the SQ5. Looks like I will have to go with 19x8/8.5 +35. I couldn't find much else in the size with a slightly more flush fitment (I also don't want anything past the fenders at all where I live). For Canadian Winters I would like the smallest diameter and narrowest width as others have noted.

It seems the stock Audi SQ5 winter wheels in 19x7 are fairly rare at the moment.

The first set of contenders I have found are: Enkei Raijin 19x8 +33.

I will look into the hartman's as soon as a find a Canadian Vendor or American company with free shipping and good duty charges such as Discount Tire Direct located in Arizona. Tirerack to Canada is far too expensive with additional charges abound.

Default If you want to look at RS donors,

look instead at the RS5 with the right center bore and aggressive offsets if that's your cup of tea. But they tend to be wide and thus no so good for snows, plus on the U.S. side are still only recently introduced. Less aggressive offsets are arguably the better winter choice if you care about road crap down the side and potential paint erosion near the fender openings. S5 offsets are a very good match up to Q5's, and you have more diameter and width selections there than with RS's.

Same proviso as I've been posting that I suspect factory Q5 18's may actually also fit the SQ's given the specifics of the brakes and calipers against some other Audis.

Here are two photos of an Audi Q5...
They are both 22x10.5 all around ET 30 and 42

In my opinion, 19's are too small. Hope you like these!

Personally I think these wheels are not for winter tires and snow,
for snow is always better as narrower tires.

Yes, what he said. Not to mentioned -30C plays havoc with really low profile tires. Our potholes are also devastating to those wheels.

I've never been a fan of huge wheels at any rate. But to each their own.

I got these from TireRack. Test fit just fine and are just a hair inside the fender well.
