Default Rough downshifting

Brought car in @ 15,000 mikes for hard downshift when driving at low speeds( stop and go traffic). Car would buck. Dealer did " clutch adaptation" which smoothed it out but didnt eliminate completely. Brought it in again @ 35,000 miles and this time they performed TSB for software update & standstill adaptation. Now the car has a hard downshift when braking from 40mph or so. Car is worse overall than before. Anyone else have this issue?

I get really jerky downshifts on my 06 A4 2.0T, mostly from 6 to 5.. and only when ON the gas.. when coasting, it's firm but not horrible. Dealer said nothing wrong. LOL.

I also have noticeably firm downshifting in my '14 TDI, at least compared to previous vehicles. Its noticeable some but not all of the time so gonna go with the flow for now unless it changes. Putting it down to the personality of the technology of this brand for now. Aside from that she is a beauty to drive and look at.

I bought a brand new 2015 Q5 2.0 about 3 weeks ago. Car bucked like an angry bull with only 200 miles on odometer traveling in excess of 50mph. I am awaiting a replacement Q5, but I find the 2014 Q5 2.0 loaner I am driving to downshift hard when I slow down to ~20mph. Given my experience a few weeks ago, I am paying very close attention to any transmission slippages, etc. Afraid Audi is going to say this is "normal," but I don't find it smooth at all...

I've noticed strange down-shifting as well, but have gotten used to it. It seems that the transmission is just a little overzealous at down-shifting while decelerating. I was probably in sport mode too...that'll do it.

It sure will!

That's the explanation for the SQ5, not sure that it should be that way in a 2.0.

I too have just gotten used to it, after reading numerous threads here from others on the issue.

I just instinctively switch out of sport mode now when I'm approaching a red light, and it doesn't bother me too much. It's still there in Drive, but far less pronounced than in Sport.
