Rolling backwards with D
In a steep hill, is it normal that Q5 starts rolling backwards? I was a bit surprised to notice this, as my previous automatic cars before current millennia did not do that. I'm not sure if this a engine or option related thing. Please sort this out for me, did I forget to opt for Audi Hill Assist or so?

Let's add also one weird quirk. If you start with low speed going down the steep hill and release the brake to let the car accelerate, the RPM gets over 4000. This is not bothering, as there is really no use case that I wouldn't either start using any pedals or toggle cruise control on to let the engine start braking. Just a bit weird..

Let me elaborate a bit. On a steep uphill on San Francisco, standing on the red lights. Once the green light comes and you take off your foot from break pedal, does the car start rolling backwards until you can press gas pedal?
My engine is 2.0T.

Use the EPB to hold the car on steep hills. Once you touch the gas pedal, it will release automatically.

Yes, mine holds for a few seconds before releasing. For instance, if you're on a large hill and release the brake the car does not roll back immediately, you should have time to push the accelerator before the brake releases. In fact I can often hear the brake release.

The Q5 comes with "hill hold assist." Below is a description of it from Audi.
"Hill hold assist
Easy starting with no roll-back. The hill hold assist function helps you drive off on a hill. If you hold down the foot brake for a time when the vehicle is stationary, the brake pressure is retained for brief a moment after you release the brake pedal – relaxed starting on any hill or incline with no roll-back.
Stress-free hill-holding: the hill hold assist function provides assistance and safety for driving off on an incline. The advantage: as you change from the brake to the accelerator, the car remains stationary for long enough and – thanks to the system’s automatic braking intervention – you can easily pull away without rolling back."
