Default Rear Suspension

I ride a German Dirtbike for fun and exercise (KTM). I just ordered a hitch mounted carrier for my factory 2" receiver. http://www.ragepowersports.com/motor...cycle-carrier/

Manufacturer told me the only issue they ever have, is if the vehicle drops too much from the weight of the bike and carrier. They said sometimes, folks modify the rear suspension to help carry the weight.

I don't think I would ever modify my Q5 suspension, just wonderers what you guys think.

I'll get the carrier in about a week.

Thank you,

Assuming you stay below the maximum hitch tongue weight, you'll be OK. That being said, the rear struts will definitely have reduced life and it will feel like your front wheels aren't touching the ground on the Q5. BTW, KTM is Austrian, not German.

I guess a Trailer would be easier on the Q5, right?

Thanks Guys,

I cancelled the order on the hitch mount dirtbike carrier. I'm getting a lightweight, single rail trailer.

I just don't want to screw with the Q5's suspension.

It makes sense to me that getting a trailer it will be easier on the vehicle.

Me too.

KTM dirt bike (guessing EXC450?) would probably weigh in at around 120kg when full of fluids. Your dealer fitted hitch is rated at around 200kg vertical but the dirt bike hangs a long way out the back on those carriers.

I think you are better off with a trailer - that's what I use.
