Default Rear seat comfort

I borrowed a friend's Q5 to test drive with my family. While the front seats felt firm but comfortable, my wife and my kid felt the rear seats are not very comfortable. Reclining the seats helped but I wonder if they will be comfortable during long drives. What is your experience?

My 21 year old son & 12 and 14 year old daughters had no complaints about the seats being uncomfortable on our road trips to Florida and back from Halifax, Nova Scotia (1,900 miles one way)
They actually preferred the seats more upright than reclined.

Well that settles it! If the seats are comfortable over a 4,000 mile trip, the problem can't be with the seats but most likely with the occupants

I loved the drive of Q5. I drive a V8 E Class Mercedes but the Q5 felt a lot quicker on the acceleration and much more assertive with the brakes.

Wow - 4 people and their luggage for 3000 miles

Good on you !!!

Never been in the back
and as the Q is my wife's daily driver,
we've only taken it on one long trip of 8 hours one way ...
while it performed extremely well loaded as it was (stunned by the great mpg @ speed !)

it was very comfortable up front...
it also was "comfortably" loaded with the two of us and ALL her luggage (and my one bag)

the wife packs so much that we now take the big car (05 Ford Excursion Diesel) on long trips just in case she finds something she has to bring back with us

Yeah, I have to agree, I was pleasantly surprised by the mpg even though we had a full load. Also, the suspension seemed a lot softer and the ride more comfortable with a full load.
I'm pretty sure that a larger adult would not find the rear seats as comfy as the front seats are on a long trip, but the kids loved the trip!
