My neighbor called me Saturday morning and said "are you airing out your X5?"
"why?" I asked.

"Because all 4 windows and the sunroof are open since Friday night"

That's what happens when you hold down a BMW X5 unlock button for more than 5 seconds. It's pretty creepy when it happens lol.

Happened twice to me too - first time was in a parking garage. Hatch open all day! Thankful it was a secured garage and nothing missing. Second time in my driveway, but noticed it when I went inside. Got to check the MMI settings... think there is something about locking the hatch...

I don't think it has anything to do with locking the hatch. It is due to inadvertently squeezing the button on the remote. Think about where you keep the key - maybe in your front pocket where you might lean against something and not realize it.

Since I stopped keeping the key in my pocket around the house, hasn't happened once.

I ordered the OSIR Key cover so I wouldn't have this problem when I get my Q5.

I bought two when I ordered it and my co-worker that has a US spec Q5 has been using his for a couple months with no complaints. You can hardly tell its on the actual key.
