Default Same Here

I experience this as well, and I had the 37G1 software update about 6k miles ago. It seems to occur more often when coasting to a stop at low speed, particularly on a mild downslope, in stop and go traffic. The update seemed to help somewhat, but obviously not completely. When slowing under heavier breaking in similar terrain it does help to achieve a timely full stop, so I'm pleased with that. When first starting out in the morning, I have about a 500-750 foot run to the first stop sign, and this effect is more pronounced, almost to the point of stalling as I transition to acceleration, but the next run is quite a bit (1 mile or more) longer, so I guess the tranny is warmed up by then. I make it a point not to put the car in reverse immediately when starting up, at least not for maybe 30 seconds or so, so I don't think I'm contributing to the issue in that sense.

Wonder if a further update is needed.

1. When should the transmission fluid be changed?
2. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with theirs?
3. Any other ideas what it might be?

Thanks.
Does this happen to you even after the engine has fully warmed up?

Mine typically only does this when it is cold. Once everything warms up I don't think I have ever had any problems.

Same here. When it's cold and I let off the gas to decelarate, I experience a harsh downshift. Once warmed up, all is good.

true. It does happen more often when the engine is cold but i thought it happened more in the Summer than in the winter. But this clearly isn't normal for a $45K vehicle is it? Cant wait to hear what my SA is going to tell me. Its been in the shop for 5 days now

Default 2012 in same boat also

Guys,

I just dropped my 2012 2.0T Q5 in the shop, and I noticed that the downshifts are rather abrupt in the car. We are at 900 miles on the car.

Just my luck, they gave me a 2012 Q5 for a loaner with 2000 miles. OMG, what a difference! The loaner downshifts sooo smooth, in almost every gear, both up and downshifts.

Particularly in the downshifts, my Q5 is abrupt, but the loaner Q5 seems to have better transitions between downshifts. I can't describe it, but it was EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE.

So , what should I tell my dealer now?

Default I'll Second That

I noticed the same difference when I got mine back from the 37G1 campaign. Was it completely successful 6k miles later....not entirely sure.
