Q5 2.0 the same as VW 2.0 ?
Hi,
Does our Q5 have the same motor as VW has in the Passat and other vehicles?
This Q5 2.0 doesn't feel anything like a Passat that we had a number of years ago, I believe that car had a 2.0 in it.

According to this:

The 2.0 in the Q5 is the EA888 model which was introduced in March 2008. The previous 2.0 model is the EA113, which still remains in production, but is obsolete. Depending on the model year of your Passat, it probably is not the same 2.0 as in the Q5

Both Audi and VW use the EA888 engine in their current vehicle range but only Audi has the variable valve lift technology which is used to differentiate the two. However the Scirocco R and Golf R still use the the older EA113 engine as they have the stronger Audi S3 internals. The EA113 is less efficient than the newer EA888 and uses belt driven cams as opposed to the EA888's chain drive (noisier but requires less maintenance - hurray!).
