My deal was similar... I ordered a 2012 Q5 Premium Ibis White/Cinnamon with Heated Seats, Convenience Package, Sun Roof and all weather floor mats. My MSRP was just under $40k and I got it for $37,999. Estimated delivery date is March 19th; It's currently still in the factory in Germany.
These have been the longest 2 months waiting...

1k over invoice is a good deal.
I've shopped around A LOT and while I can guarantee you that you CAN get $500+ more off than what you achieved, you'll have to go out of your way, timewise, to achieve it...which isn't worth it for a great, gerat many people. Time is money after all.
You did good....as these cars are still easily going at MSRP and sell off the lot in a very short time.
BE happy and enjoy your car!

I agree...the process involves so many variables that you can drive yourself crazy trying to put your finger on all the moving pieces. At one point my girlfriend said "I think that dealership is getting to see you more than I do."
I think at that point I realized it was time to just go with a car and a number and close the deal.
For a few days after I bought the car I was ticked off that I didn't make them throw this in for free or waive this fee or whatever, and then I realized I was just driving myself crazy.
Time to enjoy the car and be happy with it.

Putting a deposit down doesn't really give you much leverage on negotiating the price anymore. It's like you agreed on the price and now you're putting money down to order the car.
Im in NJ and all the Audi dealerships i went to are asking a down payment if a car needs to be ordered. Other say it's not refundable and other are refundable. Its depends on the dealership. i got mine at a 1400 below MSRP.
