Default Oil Light

Oil light just came on (low level) and I am not due for service for another 1500 miles.

Would it be ok to add a quart of oil until I can get to Audi dealer for my 25k service? I don’t have time to drop it off for service until the Monday after next and need to drive about 300 miles in between.

If I can add oil should I buy Mobile 1 (0W-40)?

Thanks!

Hey Boltsfan - any oil that meets the VW 502 00 spec will work. No need to bring it in for service. Just add the quart, and you're good to go.

My A4 2.0T takes about 1qt every 5k miles. Others fare much worse than that. Fortunately, the Q5 has been holding up well with oil usage.

Good luck.

Be reassured, this has been mentioned a few times on here. It seems the 2.0T drinks a bit of oil. Seems to happen across the board, my Dad has to add oil to his A4 every few thousand miles or so.

Can't wait until I have my excuse to go buy more oil
My old civic didn't drink a drop.

I would only add a half a quart first of the VW 502 00 spec oil.
If you add even a little too much your display will read "Please drain Oil" when you check it. It is much easier to add some more than to take some out. Also you will have a better feel for how it all works. Mine has stayed at full for the last 2K miles now at 4K. I used 1/2 a quart in the first 2K miles.

Good point! I'm used to the A4 that usually needs the full quart.

Add a 1/2 Qt. of the Mobil 1 0W-40 and see where that gets you. IIRC, the light comes on when 1 Qt. low but best to fill it incrementally.

Can you get a dipstick for the 2.0? I put one on the 3.2 - don't trust the sensor on the Q5

What? It doesn't come with a dipstick?

I don't take delivery until mid December.

Added about a 1/3 quart of Mobile 1 (0W-40) and warning is gone. Waited a couple of hours for oil level indicator to reset but it still is unable to provide any update info.

I read the manual but do not see a way to reset so is VAG-COM necessary?

No do not need Vag-com

1.Start the engine wait until it reaches operating temperature
2.Stop engine
3. After a few seconds again give the contact as if you start the engine but without the clutch and go to MMI on the level of oil and Wait a few minutes
4.Wait with ignition not start the engine (3-8 min.)
Sorry for my english
