Oil level display NOT displaying oil level
Hi Everyone,
I've gotten the 15,000 mile service a few months ago(with Audi Care).
I didn't check anything until today, where I was wondering about my oil level so I went into my MMI->car->service check->oil level and this message showed up.
the oil level display is available after approximately two minutes, and engine warm and ignition turned off.
I drove it around for around 10 minutes, then went back to check and that message still shows up.
I tried turning the engine off, but that greys out the oil level checking option.
Another forum said try resetting the MMI. How do I do this?
I have Audi Q5 2014 Prestige.

I found this in another thread:
- Engine must be warm (driven for 10+ minutes)
- Engine must have been shut off for 10 minutes after having been driven (to allow oil to pool back into the pan)
- Car must be parked on level ground (for accuracy)
Go check the owners manual for exact requirements.

Dipstick
I had an oil issue where the car was slightly overfilled, and got the alert, the onboard oil sensor said 100%. Odd. Then got the oil where it belonged and it still gave the 100%, I got home and it said 90%.
Solve the problem the easy way, ignore it and get a dipstick, makes life way better!

After the car is warmed up:
Turn off.
Turn back on without your foot on the brake (so ignition is on but engine is not running).
Wait about a minute or so and your oil display will be working again.
Have to do this on mine anytime the hood was opened.

Under some conditions you can get a real-time reading in the MMI by opening the hood and having ignition switched on (engine not running). I sometimes top off the oil with this strategy. You can add a bit of oil and see the MMI level rise accordingly.
^^^ Engine must be hot to have this work.

Close the hood first.
Close the hood completely. Annoying but it works. Make sure car reaches operating temperature. Park, shut engine off, wait 2 minutes, press ignition switch without foot on break. Never had this issue before until recent dealer service on 2012 Aodi Q5. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I had just had my engine replaced on (under extended warranty from carmax), it was a 2013 audi s5. anyway went to check the oil via the MMI as I would thinking how could miss this, turns out I had opened the hood today as I was looking at the replacement engine lovingly, then later checking the oil level and it kept saying it wasn't warm even though driven it about 100 miles today. thank you for posting.
