Default new tires

I live in SoCal but regularly travel to Southern Oregon with snow/ice. Looking to replace my Bridgestone Duelers but would like something that is a bit more "year round" versus summer performance.

Would appreciate any recommendations. Btw, have been to Klamath Falls three times in the past month, each time in snow and the Duelers did fine but would like a bit more "security" as I babied my driving in these conditions (and I'm lazy so I didn't want to put my chains on)

Thanks,

Bill

I was really pleased with the Continental Extreme Contact all season tires I put on my S4 right after I got it. Living in Washington DC in the Mid Atlantic I didn't want the baggage of having dedicated summers and winters so I was willing to give up some performance. The summer tires were a factor in my decision not to go with S Line on the 3.0T I took delivery of just before Christmas. Have to say that i liked my '11 3.2L a lot, but I'm loving my new 3.0T!

+1 on the Conti's. They are the best performance all-season I've ever had on a vehicle. High speed ratings, performance tire, but the tread pattern for wet roads and material for all-season.

Weather here is slightly less than DC gets. If it snows its only a few inches and it's off the roadways pretty quickly.

I can say that with these tires going through large puddles of water, it goes right through it with this tread pattern. The 19" block pattern conti tires that came on the car, you could feel it pushing you to the side.

I love the Extreme Contact DWS so far. Not a single complaint. And I drive my car aggressively.

For ice you really need snow tires. No all season do well with the ice conditions I have seen in the NW.

Here are my experiences on the Conti DWS on 20" rims - might be different on a more narrow smaller dia wheel: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...&highlight=dws

Seems to be a consensus... I'm quite happy with Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires as well

Continental DWS in the 20" size are on national back order.

I just dropped a pair of Yokohoma Parada Spec-X on my ride. I have had the DWS before on another vehicle and think that they are slightly better than the Yokohoma's. However, Tire Rack had the 20"'s for $169.

The tires are a bit softer--but, today we had a light rain and I pushed the car hard. The Yokohoma's never gave up their grip and the ride is comfortable.
