Mud Flaps?
Does anyone else have dealer installed mudflaps on their Q5?
They seem to have come on ours (we didn't ask for them), but I think they'll hinder the look of the 20x9" Hartmann wheels with ET 25 because the tire/wheel will stick out past the edge of the mudflaps...
I wonder if they've already damaged the paint underneath (@11,000km through mainly through winter weather); maybe they could be taken off?
These aren't the greatest pics, but you can see the mudflaps in them.

If the flaps were securely installed, the paint should be OK.
I'm interested in them if you decide to sell. I'm in Edm and am often in Calgary. I've got a VAG COM cable if you'd like to borrow it.

Just remember the mud flaps do a service in protecting those sections of the Q and reduce spray to it's undercarriage - in removing them you will now allow all the muck and grime and rocks from the road to come up and directly 'impact' that area.

IMO those are pretty hideous-looking. It doesn't help that they're contrasting colors either (black on white). No doubt they're very effective, you just have to decide if you can live with the look.

You're both right and thus the conflict.
They look rather bad, but do appear to offer some protection. The sides of the car get sprayed bad enough with them on, let alone if I took them off...

I agree that the mud flaps really spoil the lines of the car.
The color contrast isn't too bad on my Quartz Grey Q5, but other colors may look much worse.
I got them because I drive on dirt roads fairly often and the added protection is worth it to me. I have yet to notice any scratches from kicked up road debris.

Those mudflaps look like they'd be part of the offroad package where they would tie into the wheelwell extensions. Maybe it's just the picture but on their own they don't look right. They look like they stick out. I'm sure I've seen a different set that looked OK.
