Default Leg trouble hinders entry into Q5

An injury to her legs has made it difficult for my wife to lift them high enough to easily step through the passenger doorway into our 2016 Q5.

There are a number of running boards or steps on the market that might help her to more easier climb through the passenger door and onto the seat.

I would appreciate recommendations from any who have had and solved a similar problem.

NOTE: I found a solution in a small collapsible step listed on Amazon.

Does the seats drop down on your Q5?

I have similar physical issues as I have gotten older - these days a CUV with seats that move fits the bill - but I had to test seats before I got one recently - the Land Rover I just got fit the bill...

My Land Rover seats drop down all the way to the bottom when I park it and then stays that way until I get in. It rises to the preset height when I start the engine. Helps me not to struggle getting in/out of the car. Entry and exits like a sedan but drives high like a SUV when I start the engine and drive.

When I was looking at other brands, my second preferred seat option was the Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude or Summit edition where the entire car's air suspension dropped 6 inches to get me in/out easily.... But the reliability of the car bothered me which is why I ended up with the Land Rover.

My right knee gets very stiff on occasion and bending it is painful. When I have an episode like this, I move the seat all the way back before I get into and out of the Q. Memory button to get into position to drive.
Getting older has its vagaries and we have to adapt. Hope this helped.

There are some "pivoting seats" available for cars. Basically a lazy susan that goes on the front seat, so your wife can just back in and sit down, and then swing her legs up as she turns to face forward. If you can't turn them up online, try looking in the one of the places that sells handicap vans and mobility scooters.

My only concern with running boards (or a step stool, which I know some people use, the Rino collapsible one is extremely rugged and folds flat very easily) or with a stool would be if she slipped getting on it in the rain. A good antiskid surface and a handstrap or other handgrip to help her on the way in would be things to consider with it.
