Default How to swap out fog light bulbs

Searched and found old thread, but nothing really explained it well enough so I didn't force trying to get surround off...

I see the fog light surround has what looks like tabs but I don't want to break anything just yet

I have some h11su silverstar ultras- 4100k super whites from Osram Sylvania I want to try to see if corrects the yellow tint of the fogs to better match the xenon headlamps... any shortcuts to pulling the surround off? or can I go from the wheel well ? How to pull the wheel liner off ?
Thanks in advance !

I replaced mine in like 2 min., the surround just pulls off with a jerk forward to disengage the clips. For more info

Here is a link to do it a different way. It is for the B8 A4.
May not work for our Q5's.
On the A4 the clips tend to break off it says. Probably more so in cold weather.

So how do you like the bulbs, do they match better like you wanted?

IMHO, they are about the same color as the 2011 stock fogs.... so not worth it - going for hids next...

but much harder than 2 screws in the wheel well....
It was THREE T-25 screws so I could safely pull the liner back and reach in to turn the socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise.
It had enough cable slack that I could get the bulb and socket out to push the catch down and pull the old out without touching the glass...
best to do this during the day as it's ez to see the open hole when behind the fog lite is dark - just aim for the light !

The quest for matching light continues - didn't readily find hid's locally so trying what another member suggested ..

ordered the xenonmatch from hoen-usa to see if they DO match -

will post the results in a few days when received.

If you have the S line grilles, you can take a piece of rope and put it thru the holes that are on the side closest to where your front license plate is.Now the grille is very easy to pull out.

This is the Hoen H11 55W xenonmatch bulb on my Q5. Close enough match for me.

Kouwell !

I ordered the hoen's the first day that became available again....

Shipped yesterday and I am patiently waiting !

Now that I've had help with the vag com cable and changed the coding such that the fogs stay on with the headlites... they HAVE to match better than the yellow stocks or the h11 Silver stars I tried...

FYI - heard tell of LED's for the rest of the bulbs...
license plate, etc and interior bulbs that are much whiter..

anyone know of a source for them and what numbers go where since Audi won't tell us in the manual
(doesn't it infer we aren't smart enough to change bulbs ?)
