Cable-
I can only tell you that when I was looking to do or have the repair done, the universal opinion was that the whole headliner had to come down. The best help I was offered was from a local family owned 40-year+ interior shop that used to do this work for the dealers, and has a specialty in high-end cars and classics. (I think my Q5 was the cheapest car in their lot.) Basically, they would have charged some $1250, half of that being the Audi "cartridge" price, and his suggestion was that he'd just take a razor blade and cut the messy liner off for me--that there was no other good shortcut.
Obviously some folks seem to have wormed into the rear and replaced that cartridge...but if that was simple or reliable, this shop would have known about it.
I think the real problem is that the adhesive used to bond the metal tapes is simply a weal product, and if the glass is open but the screen is closed, the forces at highway speed eventually will tear it apart. On the other hand, the 3M Crystalline on my moonroof works perfectly. No heat, no problem.
I was lucky enough to get one Prestige dealer to get AoA to pay for half the repair (which came back to the same $1200 net) but frankly, I'm afraid to open the shade anymore. The dealer wouldn't even let me look at the failed parts to see what the real story was.

Default Sunshade

I attempted to repair/replace my sunshade, it was a big pain in the butt, and I ended up being very happy with tinting it. If you use a quality Ceramic tint it will keep the heat out and look great for a lot cheaper than repair.

Over 7,500 downloads of my PDF with instructions, only twice Thanks, I don't understand people who get help or information why it's hard for them to click on Thanks/Like, it doesn't cost anything.

It's the same with updating maps and firmware, which cost dealers over $ 800 I received over 200 requests for the same.
If nothing else you need to appreciate the time and effort spent on help or information (example of a 20 GB folder uploaded on a server)

A bit disappointing, not only in my case but also with a couple of other active members who help other forum members with their information

Of course none of us are on the forum because of that but I don't understand what the problem is with clicking Thanks / Like

SPIJUN,
would it be ok if you can share some firmware files for my 11 p+ 2.0? I just don't have the funds right now is all.

I realize its an old thread but my 2010 Q5 sunroof shade just broke. Spijun, could I trouble you for those PDFs regarding sunshade removal/installation? I have a new OE sunshade cassette and updated guidepieces from Audi ready to go.

Thanks in advance Spijun; those PDFs will be a lifesaver

Does anyone have a link to a reputable online seller where you can buy all the parts necessary to change out the shade?
I see lots of options online but hard to tell what will work and is good quality.
fcpeuro has nothing while ecs tuning sells the hardware but not the shade itself.
