Hacking MMI to display movies off SD card
Is such a thing possible? I have the 2009 Q5 with nav.
A) How do I enable ability to play movies while car is moving?
B) Is there a way to play movies off SD cards? If so, which file formats are accepted? If not, what other options are available?

For enabling Video In Motion (VIM) let's look at this article: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Articles_VIM.html
I don't think playing video from SD is possible, never heard of playing vide from it. If you want more than playing DVD there are aftermarket TV tuner emulators that allows video input from virtually any standard video source. Look at Kufatec, VNSmedia, Dension and probably few others...

i think only the 2012 (new 3G MMI) can play video off SD card.

I came to the same conclusion via research and some testing. I could get it to play audio from the movie files but no video.

And the OP said, "MOVIES"...not all video files = "MOVIES"
