Default Exhaust Tips Cleaning

Anybody have insight on how to clean the Exhaust Tips of the Q5? I have tried a damp cloth and mild soapy water to remove the exhaust "soot". Concerned with off the shelf cleaning supplies would be harmful to the plating. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use Simichrome (chrome cleaner in a tube) or wadding cloth / polish. Cleans the residue off the chrome and leaves it looking good -- no damage to the chrome.

Do yourself a big favor and just paint them black. Seriously, that's where I'm headed.

i've used optimum from detailersdomain and it worked. However I'm noticing rust spots starting this year so I'd use that with caution.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Collinite Liquid Metal Wax. It's a polish and a wax so it helps keep the metal shiny and prevents the soot from sticking.

It's what a lot of the guys over in the S4 forum use to keep their aftermarket exhausts looking good.
