Default Diesel in Canada?

Just got a Q5 TDI a week ago and loving it. First long trip will be to Canada this week (live in central PA). Will be some bad weather so might be an interesting drive.

Question?? Is diesel widely available in Canada and is it priced similarly to American diesel? I am seeing $3.79 a gallon in PA. Should I structure the ride to fill up just south of the border, or is diesel in Canada not something to worry about?

Btw love the forum and love the new vehicle. Have driven a ML 350 and a Lexus LS 430 in the past, but the w5 Diesel is frankly more fun!

Fuel costs more in Canada .
Diesel is cheaper than regular gas in Canada.
Diesel is available at nearly every second fuel station in Canada.
People are friendlier and don't carry guns in Canada.

Thanks. I knew that fuel was generally more pricey in Canada, but good to know its readily available. I ended up checking out a cool site that listed high and low prices.

Looks like about $1.30/L. This works out to (3.785 x 1.3) $4.92 a gallon (American) for Diesel. Currently I'm paying $3.79, so I think I will just fill up south of the border.

It does seem diesel is relatively cheaper than premium gas in Canada, while it is not in PA.... Not entirely sure why.

In the US, diesel is taxed heavier because the heavy trucks cause more road damage. In Canada all fuel is taxed heavy because that's how we take it (and yes please, may I have another).

and how do you explain your mayor being a crackhead?

OP, I usually fill up before cross the border and try not to fill up till i get back or put enough to get me back. Not sure if thats plausible for you.
