ma3hok-
Thanks, I'm aware of that but didn't want to spend that much money just to close a "door" once in a while. In another year, Audi will release the manual, I'll find out where the switch is wired into, and worry about it.
If I use a fiberglass fish tape, perhaps I can trace the rout that the battery jumping connections use. That should be fairly direct and simple.

When going into the customizations screen for this app for my 2009 Q5, I find some new options, called "Start Auth Bit", numbered 1 through 7.
Any Carista users (or the App Maker!) care to explain what these do?
On another note, in the Status/Codes advanced screen, it has many statuses of various systems, like "service interval" "soot quality" "oil quality", etc. I cannot tell if the values are good or bad (though, I'd *assume* that if they were bad, I'd be getting a CEL about them).
Anyone know what these settings and statuses are? I included a couple of screenshots.

And maybe a way to turn off those pesky "AIR BAG!" warnings on the windshield visors?
(VBG)
I understand there is a "CANtact" project on GitHub, where some folks are trying to put together an open-source community to explore and document a lot of the CAN-bus nonsense that all the car makers want to keep secret. FWIW.
Obviously, nowhere near what Carista can already do. It was SO nice to open my windows & roof yesterday and let the car air out before I reach it!
And somehow, no children got beheaded in the process....

Needle Sweep
Just reporting in that I did get Needle Sweep, Seat Belt Chime Delete, and Lap Timer to work using a BETA version of Carista with iOS, 2014 Premium Plus No-Nav Q5 2.0L
...and YES, I did help with the first beta versions, and I still paid for the Pro upgrade when it released on the iTunes store, because the app is that fun!

Anybody successfully enable footwell lighting while driving using Carista beta version?
If yes, can you share what you did?
on my phone, it indicates "enabled" for front/rear footwell lighting while driving, but it doesn't work.

2015 TDI and using the beta on Android. Did pay for premium too.
So far I have disabled the seat belt chime, enabled cornering lights (fog), the windows up/down with fob, lap timer (oil temp works), changed a few other lighting options (like dimming the drl leds). Overall awesome app. Their support is great too.
