@ Jocjayhay, irenesbob, EricSline:
I'm glad to see I am NOT the only 3.x TDI lover for a Q5. We should write a petition ;-)
What I have recently learnt is, that they may sell the Q5 Hybrid with an gasoline fired inline R4. Not really what I was hoping for. Not sure if I want that. Anyway, I'll testdrive the Q5-Diesel in Mainz in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to it eventhough it may border to masochism...

I disagree that only drag racers will notice the HP difference. I live in the Rockies and regularly drive my Q5 over 7500' where the 3.2 FSI puts out roughly 210hp - the same as the 2.0T. Even in sport mode the Q5 feels sluggish over 7000'. Yes the 2.0T has more torque (especially at altitude), but this only really matters on the initial pull away from a stop (or pushing through deep snow). Sustained acceleration (merging onto a freeway) is all about horsepower to weight. The 2.0T is a great engine in an A4; the Q5 is just too heavy. I would love to be proven wrong when the 2.0T Q5s are available for test drives, but I think sea level Q5 drivers will see a huge difference in the driving experience between a 3.2 and a 2.0T.
acceleration

sorry for the interruption here it continues.
acceleration 0-100km/h is 6,9s to 7,2s (3,2FSI to 2.0 TFSI)
barly noticable in my view.
I own an 2.0 in here germany and can't complain about missing power.
The Q5 is quick of the line and easily goes 200km/h on the Autobahn.
The weigt of an Q5 2,0 is 1755kg, an A4 2,0 quattro s-tronic is 1605kg.
But the 2.0 is very noisy, when forced to show it's possibilities. This is the biggest point for the six cylinder.
bye
