My cargo compartment has two slots running along each side of the cargo area. An expandable bar with posts that fit into each slot can then be moved along the sides of the back to provide a small barrier so that items don't move around. The is also nylon band that works the same way (2 posts, one on each side) that also can be moved back and forth. Both of these are about 2-3 inches high.

There are also four anchors that can be fitted (2 on each side) and a cargo net that you can fit on these anchors, so that items can be placed under the net, on the floor, so they don't slide around.

Finally 2 hooks, one on each side of the car that are placed directly behind the rear seats. As mentioned, very handy for plastic grocery bags.

Sounds like most of these are not available in the States, but one of you may have different information.
